Document checklist.

Please share whatever you'd like me, as your financial planner, to look into. Statements, PDFs or clear phone photos are all fine, and everything you share is kept strictly confidential.
01

Investment strategy

  • Demat / broking holdings statement — a CAS (Consolidated Account Statement) from CDSL/NSDL covers most of this in one file
  • Mutual fund statement — a CAMS or KFintech consolidated statement is ideal
  • PMS / AIF statements, if any
  • EPF, PPF and NPS balances / passbooks
  • Fixed deposits, bonds, RBI/SGB or debt holdings — amount, rate, maturity
02

Insurance & protection

  • Term / life insurance policies — sum assured, premium, term
  • Health insurance policies — cover amount, family members included, top-ups
  • Any ULIPs, endowment or money-back plans — policy document + latest statement
  • Employer-provided cover — group life / group health, if any
03

Tax-aware investing

  • Capital gains statements from your broker / mutual funds — most platforms generate these yearly
  • Note of any HUF, LLP or company through which you invest
04

Financial planning & goals

  • A note of your major goals with rough amounts and timelines — children's education, a home, retirement, a business exit, travel, giving
  • Your approximate monthly household spending
  • Expected large one-off expenses in the next 3–5 years
  • Loan statements — home, business, personal, car — outstanding amount, EMI, interest rate, tenure left
05

Estate & the essentials

  • A will or estate plan, if you have one
  • Nomination details on major accounts — or a note that they need reviewing
  • PAN and a current address proof — standard KYC for any advisory engagement
